Izumisano, Osaka, Japan (Friendship City)

Izumisano City is located in the south of Osaka City which is the biggest city in western Japan. The city has an area of approximately 55.03 square kilometers and a population of about 102,000. The weather is mild and rainfall comparatively low.
Izumisano City is proud of sea and mountain surroundings, natural resources as well as a long history and culture.

Towel and wire rope manufacturing as well as agriculture and fishery industries are successful in Izumisano City. Towel manufacturing has a history of more than 100 years and accounts for about 40% of Japan’s domestic production. Farm products such as onions, cabbages, eggplants and green vegetables are distributed to major cities. At Sano Fishing Port, the biggest fishing port in Osaka Prefecture, fresh seafood from Osaka Bay is caught.

Mt. Inunaki is famous for hot springs and visited by many tourists. On the mountain side, there is a temple “shipporyuji” well-known as a sacred place for the training of monks.
Town is the recently built town. The Rinku Gate Tower Building (the tallest building in Western Japan) stands at 256 meters as the town’s landmark. And there are a lot of facilities for shopping and amusement in the town.

IzumisanoCity is located on the opposite shore of Kansai International Airport. Kansai International Airport, built on reclaimed land and constructed 5 kilometers offshore of Izumisano City, opened in September, 1994.
